Design & build

Different ways to play. A shared sense of belonging.

Inclusive planning starts with the users and the whole journey through the site. Equipment choices matter, along with arrival routes, space to pause and opportunities to participate together.

01 / Participation brief

Listen before choosing equipment.

Discuss the intended users and participation goals with the client, caregivers and relevant specialists. Identify practical needs around movement, sensory preferences, communication and assistance without assuming that one solution suits every visitor.

Project deliverableAn inclusive-play brief with agreed priorities and questions for specialist review.

02 / Connected experiences

Offer choices across the play space.

Explore ground-level shared play, sensory activities, rest areas and suitable access routes. Plan a mix of social and quieter experiences, with clear transitions and space for caregivers where required by the project brief.

Project deliverableA participation-focused layout linked to the equipment and landscape scope.

03 / Project review

Check the complete journey together.

Review the proposed design with the appointed accessibility and site specialists. Routes, transitions, surfacing and equipment interfaces need to be considered together; an equipment selection alone does not establish whole-site accessibility.

Project deliverableA coordinated review checklist and clearly assigned implementation responsibilities.

From first drawing to handover

How an inclusive playground contract runs.

Four stages, with specialist review built into the design stage.

  1. Client-provided venue plan with building dimensions and site annotations

    Brief & feasibility

Review drawings, clear heights, target users and budget. Confirm what Dream Garden contracts for and what stays with local trades.

    Venue assessment
  2. Top-down playground floor plan showing play zones and circulation

    Design & contract

Agree the 3D layout, theme, itemised scope, site interfaces and installation option before anything is produced.

  3. Playground steel frame during outdoor trial assembly

    Manufacture & ship

Factory production with quality checks and trial assembly, then labelled packing and export logistics.

    Factory & manufacturing

Programme, logistics and the installation option are confirmed for each project. Local building work and specialist approvals remain with the parties named in the agreed scope.

Choosing a contractor

Why hire a manufacturer as your inclusive playground contractor?

Compare one design-and-build contract with buying the design, equipment and installation from separate parties.

What mattersManufacturer-contractorSourcing separately
ResponsibilityOne team owns the design, the equipment and the agreed installation scope.Design, supply and installation sit with different firms, so interface gaps tend to surface on site.
Design accuracyLayouts are drawn by the people who engineer and build the structures, checked against your columns and clear heights.A concept may need re-engineering once a manufacturer reviews it, adding time and changes.
PricingFactory-direct pricing with an itemised scope, so every item and service is visible.Equipment may pass through resellers, and installation is priced separately afterwards.
InstallationInstalled by our crew, under our supervision or with our remote guidance, using the drawings the factory produced.Installers may meet the system for the first time on site.
After handoverSpare parts, wear items and technical questions go back to the manufacturer.Support depends on which party supplied each component.

FAQs

Inclusive playground contractor FAQs

Participation, accessibility and what the contract covers.

Ask about your site
Do you install inclusive playgrounds on site?

Yes. Choose our installation crew, a Dream Garden supervisor working with your local contractor, or remote guidance with drawings, manuals and video calls. Routes and surfacing are agreed separately in the scope.

Does inclusive play mean every activity must be identical?

No. A project can offer different experiences and levels of challenge while creating meaningful ways to participate together. The agreed user brief should guide the mix.

Can an existing playground become more inclusive?

Yes, an upgrade can be reviewed. Look at the complete visitor journey as well as the equipment, including arrival, routes, transitions and places to pause.

Does accessible equipment make the whole site accessible?

No. Equipment is one part of the project. Whole-site access also depends on routes, surfacing, transitions and the implemented design, reviewed with the responsible specialists.
